Customers often express fearfully: Can gold powder be filled into a fountain pen?
In fact, it is possible, but there are a few points to note:
ink:
✓ Do not fill the pen with dip pen ink, because dip pen ink usually contains a large amount of gum arabic, which will dry up and block the pen.
✓ For Fountain Pen Ink, the powder must be fine enough and fluid enough. Currently, the ones that have been tested and can be used include: Colorverse Ink full range of glitters,Robert Oster,JH1798,Tono & Lims,Ferris Wheel Press,Wearingeul Literary Ink,Private Reserve (You need to stir it before using it for the first time),Herbin1798 (Don’t use the old version of 1670 yet)
✓ When there is really a lot of powder, it is still possible to temporarily block the pen, so the solution is not to add so much powder. Take Robert's powder ink as an example. For models with a large amount of powder, it is recommended that you do not need to shake the whole bottle until it is evenly distributed (such as rose gold, cranberry); for models with a small amount of powder, you can shake it evenly (such as Violet Dream).
Pen recommendations meet the following conditions:
- Large ink output (regardless of pen width)
- The pen cap is airtight (not easy to cause powder to get stuck due to drying out)
(The following are bonus points conditions):
- Drop-in type makes ink easier to fill
- Can be fully disassembled for easy cleaning
- Don’t feel bad if it’s cheap and broken XDDD
At present, it is mainly recommended to use Yongsheng 698 or Taiwanese brands.Opus 88 ,Fine Writing, and other Taiwanese brands that use German tips, likeRobert's fanThe thinnest one can be F-point.CVEven EF
Some people also reported that using Sanwentang, 0.5 preppy, and Bonbon can be used!
I also tried it recentlyParkway,Sharaku's most common PG and PF FM tips, because the nib and tongue are detachable, it’s quite smooth to use!
But all the pen and ink match. Or, depending on the pen and ink and personal usage habits, there will be situations where the pen and ink are suitable or not suitable. My criterion for "usable" is that water will come out in one stroke after filling, and it can be used after shaking it for a few days. It is considered OK!
If the above combination still causes persistent pen blockage that cannot be eliminated, you can also try:
- Just add a little original ink (but don’t add powder)
- If it is still very clogged, you can disassemble it and clean it, then fill it with less powder.
