In Korean, it is called "cockle," so named because the flesh inside the shell resembles a bird's beak.

It is considered a specialty of Nantang Port, Hongseong County,

Because its production season is from January to February (cold winter) in the intertidal zone of the West Sea.

This ink is a dark reddish brown.

It's designed to capture the reddish hue of clam shells. Unlike many dark inks that appear almost black when written in, this ink effectively shows off true purple-brown colors when used with a fountain pen.
